Simple form, complex program
Approaching the Performing Arts Centre via MacDonald Street, students and visitors are confronted by its sculptural, prismatic form, a corner of it chiselled off like a geode to reveal a vibrant facet of orange that defines the public café. The double height foyer, with its translucent cladding and skylights, gives further access to the lower and upper level auditorium, with a bolt of bright fuchsia providing wayfinding cues. The auditorium, defined by its multicoloured acoustic wall panels, has a large stage fitted out with lighting bars and audio-visual equipment to facilitate a stage set up for a diverse range of activities and concerts.
