Pre-fabricated construction

This project is unique to due to its extremely short construction period on site, and its low construction cost. Following a community meeting, the school engaged KDA to design an Early Learning Centre on their existing campus, to be operational in the following year.

Our previous experience in designing for this site gave us a realistic understanding of the lengthy Town Planing process, hence we (and the school) looked into the potential of engaging pre-fabricated building companies to reduce the construction period on site.

It was still important to the school for the building to be open-planned, modern, filled with natural light, energy efficient, and most importantly, NOT feel like a portable building. We worked closely with the selected pre-fab builder Cubiq Modular (Hensley Park Homes) to complete this fast-tracked 796m2 building for $1.27m with only 3 months construction time on site.
