ST MICHAEL’S GRAMMAR SCHOOL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT PLAN
The St Michael’s Grammar School FMP required a thorough investigation of a dense inner city campus with complex building stock including multiple heritage buildings, titles and planning overlays. Detailed analysis of the school’s facilities, services, students, school community and campus aspirations led to an innovative multi level interconnected master plan.

Towards 2030: Creative, inquiring minds learning From, With and For the world.
In 2017, the St Michael’s Grammar School Board of Directors decided to embark on a comprehensive Facilities Management Plan to coherently and holistically address the current and future educational needs of the school.
The Facilities Management Plan aligns the SMGS Strategic Direction 2030 with the long-term infrastructure planning of the School, ensuring well considered built form and landscaping.
Collaboration & consultation
A commitment to engagement and consultation with the whole school community has ensured that the FMP aligns with the school’s vision for the future. Staff, executive leadership, student and parent workshops and presentations were held throughout the course of the Masterplan process
The rigorous testing of ideas and ongoing incorporation of client feedback informed the evolution of the design and produced a set of built form guidelines that all future projects should meet.
The FMP was developed and presented in 4 phases:
Milestone 1 - Preparation & Review
Milestone 2 - Identify and Explore
Milestone 3 - Evolve
Milestone 4 - Validation
It serves to address issues at an overall and generally conceptual level, as well as articulate and document future capital investment and School operations. The proposed projects will aim to transform the School into a leading example of integrated built form set within a network of high amenity recreation spaces.
