KEMPSEY ADVENTIST SCHOOL MASTERPLAN
The Kempsey Adventist School Masterplan was first commissioned in August 2008 by the Kempsey Adventist School in conjunction with the Seventh Day Adventist Conference (NSW Chapter). The focus of the Masterplan was to bring the built facilities of the existing school up to contemporary educational facility standards, with a projected enrolment number of 650 students. By 2023, the school had implemented most of the 2009 Masterplan and, combined with further population growth in the area, realised a new Masterplan was required.

Rural setting
Kempsey Adventist School is located on the rural outskirts of Kempsey, approximately 4.5 kilometres from Kempsey city centre. Its immediate environment is rural, some distance from the hub of local shops and transport routes. Located in a beautiful and spacious bushland setting in Dunghutti country between Crescent Head and Kempsey, the school’s 32-acrecampus provides ample opportunities for students to learn, play, and grow.
Site constraints
The entire site is identified within the Biodiversity Values Map and is subject to local Koala Management Plan requirements. Ecological constraints identified within the undeveloped portion of the site include the presence of native vegetation, including a TEC (threatened ecological community). The site is also in a Bushfire Prone Area. The independent Bushfire Due Diligence Report prepared in August 2023 identifies the limitations on the site with regard to BAL ratings and Asset Protection Zones.
Analysing and establishing priorities
The facility area schedule analysis and student workshops both highlighted a significant deficiency in Performing Arts, Indoor Sport and whole school gathering facilities. The development of the Gymnasium and Performing Arts (MPC) facility as a priority project will provide opportunities for connections with local sporting teams, after school hours events or additional extra-curricular activities.
